Vanessa Kanbi

Is a presenter, filmmaker & podcaster.

Vanessa Kanbi is a Scottish Ghanaian presenter, filmmaker and podcaster who has a passion to shine a light on untold stories. Originally from Edinburgh, Vanessa lives between the UK and Ghana.

Vanessa has a social media following of over 100,000 and she has amassed in excess of 10 million views on her YouTube channel which is dedicated to creating captivating films about Ghana presenting its culture, real estate, lifestyle and personal stories. 

 

In 2021, Vanessa can be heard co-hosting a brand new BBC Sounds podcast called Word Up! She has also been named as one of the inaugural class of #YouTubeBlack Voices Creator Class of 2021.

Vanessa featured in BAFTA nominated Black and Scottish on BBC Scotland. She was also in The Peoples News series 2 and series 3 on BBC Scotland. Vanessa is a panellist on STV’s Scotland Tonight within the Talkin’ Heids section. 


The Magnificent Mothers Podcast is Vanessa's brainchild. On The Magnificent Mothers Podcast, Vanessa interviews mums about their life stories and experiences to help inspire other mums and make them feel less isolated. On the theme of parenting (as she has 2 kids) she is a regular on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Bad Parent’s Club’. She has
also contributed on BBC Five Lives ‘School Runnings’. 

 

Following her degree in Criminal Justice which she gained in 2014 from the University of Westminster, Vanessa continues to be passionate about social justice in all sectors. 

Previously Vanessa modelled for over 10 years in Scotland, London, Paris and Istanbul working for brands from Burberry to Mitsubishi.
